Albuquerque - Organizing
I will post the final list of possessions when the "that which goes" pile becomes ideal.
It will probably be interesting to re-post that list in three months and see what remains!
Work at the office resumed today after a day in absentee moving gear around. I continued drafting more diagrams for the Utah Geologic Society article my professor John Geissman and I are publishing.
Here are one of those diagrams:
If the image is broken, I apologize - - I'm still having a hard time making Blogger post pictures. Despite having moved the blog locally to the university of New Mexico server, the "Upload Image/File" button in the compose toolbar is still being defiant and simply craps on any effort I make to use it.
Add to that the fact that my computer is incredibly slow and every day I use it I am lucky that it does not catch on fire and explode. Seriously - - the thing is a cranky old Pentium 1 that I shoved a PowerLeap upgrade into, making it slightly faster than your average toaster. Watching a web page load is a painful process, and drafting these figures in Adobe Illustrator version 10 is a test of saintly patience. When this whole thesis/publishing process is done I will probably go "Office Space" on this computer in an empty field with a baseball bat.
For experimental purposes, I will attempt to post one more picture, this one of the space from whence I am blogging, my office here at the university:
Blogger seems to have problems updating the blog, or I just do not fully understand the process - - I have made several changes to this page in the last few days (color of bar at top, addition of a tagboard in the side bar - - fill it up!) and none of the changes have taken effect.
Steep learning curve. I'll get it sussed out. Whatever I do has to remain for the next six months while I am away! I don't want any of you to get bored with the same black background and simple text - - gotta jazz it up!
Talk to you all later!

Good updates and thanks for the heads up regarding picture insertion.
I dropped off my roll of film at (are you ready?)- WALMART today -get this: double prints AND a disk all for $8.75 !! Amazing!
Yes -jpeg files.
Got my first paycheck and spent it.
I hadn't planned to but ran into a killer deal on foul weather gear today - like $400 fo gear for $180 so I did it. Good investment: bib overalls for wind/rain with leg seals and storm jacket with wrist seals, double front seals etc etc. Mfg by Gill out of Nottingham England.
If you're goig to leave any stocking caps etc behind, send one along my way and that should keep me sailing way beyond any common sense.
All kidding aside it looks like sailing days all through Oct and partial Nov and Dec. January looks out as does some of Feb and back on the water in March. Projects to work on through the winter if I can get some 'friend' go give me heated garage space to work on items.
See my newly updated blog as of today with the Ashby Oct Update
Care/love/ birthday priority mail pack will go out to you at the school address on Monday post so Thurs or maybe Weds should see it out there for ya.
later
Dad
